As long as it isn't used to make out/safe calls or balls and strikes (which would not happen cuz it's just not practical) I don't see a problem with it. BUT, I thought that's what the umps down the lines were for..

bout damn time, there were so many missed calls earlier this year...the umps down the lines were fing up big time so good idea
those are hard calls to make, it ain't as easy to see that as looks on the replay

I think sup-rbeast is referring to umps that actually call down the leftfield and rightfield lines in the playoffs. Not in the regular season. Not all homers are the 1st or 3rd basemans call I don't believe hoss.
I wouldn't necessarily mind safe/out calls, but you would have to limit the amount of challenges if so. Strike/balls shouldn't be counted though.
